  • The GOODS Saving Sanity Out now!!! Formed in Redondo Beach, CA from the ashes of the punk band Prop 13 in 1999. They basically added female vocalist Kat. The sound is anchored by Kat's bluesy wail and is for the most part straight up ass kicking rock. The Goods solid rock sound is original and elements of punk, reggae and even jazz on the song "Brainsticker" can be heard. When Kat and bassist player Smitty team up on vocals it echoes the great L.A. band X.

DOWN BY LAW / PSEUDO HEROES

Split CD

The PSEUDO HEROES are a tight, melodic 3-piece that kick out some excellent DOUGHBOYS stylings that are big on guitars, harmonies, and rock. DOWN BY LAW turn in five covers recorded live in Europe last year. You get the WHO, AC/DC, CLASH, CHEAP TRICK and LYNRD SKYNRD. All in all, a fine disc. - HIT LIST

F.Y.P-Come Home Smelly CD, 10"

Rough & ready production, Josh Freese on drums, 7 new tracks (and one previously released), hell, that sounds like a damn fine deal to me.- SCANNER

For those of you not in the know, FYP took the pop-punk sensibilities of the QUEERS and bastardized the sound into a unique sloppy fun for all bash that could only be FYP. Get this while you can and become manly you sissy boys.-SKRATCH

FISHSTICKS-Disko CD

Man I hate it when great bands call it quits, but it tempers my disappointment a bit if they are cool enough to release a discography collection before they ride off into the sunset. Such is the case with FISHSTICKS. I have followed them for a few years and have loved everything they've done. Their back to basics garage thrash has all the classic vibes of the first generation of hardcore bands and appeals to me on several levels. This CD collects all their releases (at least everything I know about) on one disc, which is cool since aside from a few comp tracks their music hasn't been available on CD before. Their hardcore is so fast and furious that the CD almost seems in a race with itself to reach its conclusion. This would be a bad thing except the music is so great that can't wait to start the CD over as soon as it ends. "Disko" is the reason "continuous play" on your CD player was invented.- CRASS MENAGERIE

The SHUTDOWNS, T-75 CD

"Twelve tracks of no-holds-barred punk rock... Strong songwriting and tight playing makes this album exceptional... A winning combo right here."-EXCLAIM

"This may be the best new band I've heard in the last six months. The Shutdowns have a real hard core rock-n-roll sound that is remiscent of Social Distortion but with a style all their own. The Shutdowns guitar driven punk rock is addictive."-HECKLER

HOMEMADE-What Were We Getting Into, Before We Got Into This CD

"11 songs of well written punk... This band runs the whole gamut ranging from mellow to hard back to melodic and rounds it off with well written, emotionally driven songs. Buy It!"-ZERO MAG

This is just an amazing release by HOMEMADE. 11 emotional style punk rock tunes with a heart of gold. I've been having a hard time taking this out of my CD player. I especially loved the first four songs but overall they all kicked ass. Get it.- SPOILED WHINE

CIGAR-Speed Is Relative CD

"Cigar has perfected a genre, accomplishing what other speed punk bands only dream- the band delivers catchy tunes with flawless precision at speeds defying perception."-ROCKPILE

"These guys blew my mind!!! It's so great to hear a band break free from what everyone else is doing. It's refreshing and powerful. The vocals are clean and smooth with excellent back ups. Excellent! (Pick of the Month)-UPRISING

DEVIATES-My Life CD

"The Deviates came out of nowhere and blew me away. These guys are what punk rock is all about (or should be about). Rampant punk rock that is reminiscent of Insted, Circle Jerks and Pennywise. Keep your ears peeled."-HECKLER

"Full of passion and youthful energy. They rip through the sixteen tunes like there's no tomorrow. Imagine Kevin Seconds fronting Pennywise and you've hit the nail on the head, a sure contender for album of the year."-MASS MOVEMENT

98 MUTE-Class Of 98 CD

"98 Mute hit it right on and keep it pumping right till the end, song after song of hardcore punk fucking rock." -RATS IN THE HALLWAY

"Another CD from the Theologian family and I mean family. Justin, the brother of the late Jason Thirsk (of Pennywise and Humble Gods) plays drums like a mad man. Great fast paced guitar, and the vocals on each track vary, which diversify the songs. Open Your Eyes and Watch Over Me are quite possibly tributes to Pennywise and Jason, respectively. It is some deep stuff. This is really good punk rock." -THE MANIFESTO

CHEATER-Home Is Where The Heart Is CD

"The first song is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. This band's guitarist has been in Joykiller, Down By Law and the legendary Youth Brigade. The drummer is a member of One Hit Wonder. This album explodes with melodic hardcore energy, with talent. Everyone should take the time to try Cheater on for size." -GOING NOWHERE

"Cheater sounds similar to Pennywise, which isn't surprising seeing as that it's brought to us by the label that discovered Pennywise. The album consists of some 'punk rock' and what I like to call fast rock & roll songs a-plenty. Every other song is great, and the others are above average. Great album to take on a date?" -THE MANIFESTO

This is one spectacular kick ass compilation of the year!!! This comp is packed with 27 of the most recognized punk bnads in the world today. It contains bands such as rancid, War Called Peace, Descendents, Pennywise, Good Riddance, AFI, Lagwagon, NOFX, Strung Out, No Fun At All, Blink-182, H20, No Use For A Name, Dance Hall Crashers, and plenty more. Wow, can you believe the lineup of great bands here? s here are unreleased which is a bargain for you punks. Fast and melodic punk. Awesome shit here!" -SPOILED WHINE

"Culling from the best the Epitaph, Fat Wreck Chords and Theologian rosters, the bands are, for the most part, California-based and include such melodic punk veterans as the Descendents, NOFX, Pennywise, Blink 182, and Lagwagon. Some highlights: Rancid's rollicking 'Tattoo,' the Descendents inside-out 'Shattered,' and a lively Bob Marley cover, 'Real Situation,' from War Called Peace. With more than 20 high energy tracks to choose from, this is definitely one of those 'more bang for your buck' collections. Swell!" -BAM

HOMEMADE-As We Fall CD

"Intense! Nine poppy, political, kind-of-hardcore songs that just rip you into a new way of thinking. It's music like this that makes me want to get up and do something! Great production, snazzy design, and a healthy dose of attitude makes this a scorching record in my book. This would be a band I'd go see live, as well. Pick this up!" -PUNK RAG

"As We Fall is a fine, hard-hitting record. Homemade sound a little more like a hardcore Pulley than Pennywise-but that's neither here nor there, it's all in there." -SPANK

NO FUN AT ALL-The Big Knockover CD

"Straight up punk from Skinskatteburg, Sweden. Very catchy and melodic vocals. Amazing solos and rounds. Fast and furious to say the least." -GOING NOWHERE

"A bunch of guys from Sweden do power punk, and guess what? This fucker rocks! 13 tracks of music that sounds like a cross between early Social Distortion and Snuff. This band manages to pull off one hella intense release. Yeah." -MAXIMUM ROCK & ROLL

WAR CALLED PEACE-Everyday War CD

"Holy crap! These guys rule! A hard driving punk style similar to Pennywise, with catchy lyrics, this is a must have. These guys are awesome." -BELCHIN' WAFFLES

"War Called Peace avoid what is one of the biggest drawbacks for melodic hardcore bands . . . too much spit and polish. Instead they opt for a sound that is more oldschool. They leave the rough edges intact so that instead of a nice clean slice, they rip and tear. Remember when punk bands that utilized melody were still undeniably punk as hell? Remember when they could still piss off the norms and were as irreverent as they were funny? Remember when they would NEVER have appealed to mainstream radio? Well this CD brings all that back and does so without sounding dated in any way. WCP even incorporate a bit of ska for the new breed. Superior stuff." -CRASS MENAGERIE
